As some of you know, today is my last day at Ticketmaster. To be honest, I’m surprised none of you figured it out sooner – especially since Taylor Swift has been dropping hints about it since I first started. Here’s what you may have missed:
2007 Dueling Debuts: While I joined Live Nation, Taylor was touring on her self-titled debut album. “Taylor Alison Swift” is also an anagram for “Oi! Ray sails to LN FTW”
Taylor’s favorite number? 13. My tenure with Live Nation / Ticketmaster? 13 years.
On the deluxe edition of Lover, tracks 1 & 19 are “I Forgot That You Existed.” What’s today’s date? January 19. 1/19.
It’s also National Popcorn Day. How does the second verse of “I Forgot That You Existed” start? “Got out some popcorn.”
In the video for “22” Taylor is sporting sunglasses…Ray-Bans. What year is it? 2021. If you arrange the numbers sequentially -- 20, 21, 22 -- they translate to “2021 Ray Banned (from accessing Jira and Confluence)”
This past November, Taylor posted an Instagram photo with Paul McCartney. His label? Capitol Records. My first job? Capitol Records.
Later that month, she posted about folklore streaming on Disney+. My second job? Disney.
Then in December she posted this photo, perhaps the most telling of all.
Where do bears live? The forest. What’s in the forest? Trees. What’s happening to trees? They’re disappearing. And what do trees turn into? Paper. What’s also disappearing? Paper tickets. WHO IS LEADING THIS CHARGE? Ticketmaster.
Final Easter egg: What’s the last song Taylor has released to date? “It’s Time To Go”
All told, it's been an amazing, incredibly rewarding journey. I'm thoroughly grateful for everyone I've had the opportunity to work with and the many friendships I've made along the way. Looking forward to Ticketmaster’s continued success and huge concert seasons ahead -- hopefully we can cross paths again down the road!
